I love the ethereal look of skeleton leaves, and wanted to use them in some way as a home decor decoration.
Some of the leaves I left natural. Some I painted with USArtQuest Perfect Pigment Acrylic paints. I worked on a craft mat to paint the leaves. I used a fairly wet brush, and this thinned the paint just enough for good coverage without clogging the delicate structures of the leaves. I only used two drops of paint for five leaves!!
To form the flower I lifted a length of Great Tape from the protective tape and gently rolled it into a ball. This Great Tape technique allows me to make my own custom glue dots—any size or shape!! I arranged the leaves as petals on top of my custom glue dot and pressed them firmly into the glue dot. Next, I turned the flower over and, working in a tidy tray, I liberally covered the Great Tape glue dot with USArtQuest prills. I pressed them firmly into the glue dot. Any prills that didn’t adhere to the glue dot were returned to the jar to be used another day. (Prills are a natural, small, round, pearl-like accent.)
Easy, peasy!! And a beautiful, handmade home decor decoration. I’m thinking that with the addition of a length of floral wire, these would make an outstanding arrangement.

These are super pretty! They be so nice on a card or even a whole piece of art work. Thank you for sharing this Carole. Love it!
Carole, this is so lovely!!! The center is the star of your project with those Prills. But I do love how the leaves turned out. I have some I bought and wondered what I could do with them. Now I know! Great Job!
